Nikoloz Chikovani – Special Manager

Mr. Nikoloz Chikovani was appointed as special manager of Georgian Manganese in May, 2017. Between 1994 and 2017, Mr. Chikovani occupied leading positions in business and international relations sector of Georgia. His extensive work experience includes several top management roles at a large insurance company, a German consultancy firm, and at the Western European Department of State Foreign Committee of Georgia. From 2003 to 2007, Chikovani was the director of Zestafoni Ferroalloys Plant and grew to be an active member of Zestafoni community, initiating and inspiring numerous business, charity and ecological projects in the region.

Mr. Chikovani graduated from Tbilisi State University with a degree in physics in 1988, from Georgian Technical University with degrees in banking and computer science in 1993 and 1994, and Goethe-Institute in Berlin in 1991.

 

Merab Lominadze - Operational Director

Mr. Merab Lominadze was appointed as director of operations and deputy special manager at Georgian Manganese in July 2019. He had served as CFO of Georgian division of Georgian American Alloys Group since 2012. Mr. Lominadze’s previous career included various senior management positions at Georgian Water and Power Ltd., JSC Madneuli, and government offices, including Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

Mr. Merab Lominadze is Western-educated and holds several Master’s degrees in business administration, banking and finances, and public administration.

 

     

Teimuraz Khonelia - Administrative Director


Mr. Teimuraz Khonelia was appointed as administrative director and deputy special manager at Georgian Manganese in July 2019, after serving as a legal advisor to the company’s general director. He had been previously employed in leading legal positions and as a partner at numerous large and mid-sized companies in Tbilisi and other Georgian cities, including Halyk Bank Georgia, TBC Bank, Marina Coliseum, Basic Group Georgia, and many others. He also lectured as TSU and Ilia State University.

Mr. Khonelia graduated from Tbilisi State University in 2006 with a degree in law.

 

Vasil GvelesianiDirector of Zestafoni FerroAlloy Plant.

Mr. Gvelesiani’s career at Zestafoni Ferroalloy Plant began in 1986. Before he was appointed as director of ZFP in 2017, he had worked as a shift supervisor, department head, deputy chief engineer, chief engineer, and deputy director. Mr. Gvelesiani has been awarded numerous awards and prizes for his outstanding performance and resourceful ideas over the years.

Mr. Gvelesiani graduated from the Georgian Technical University, department of heavy metallurgy, in 1986.

Ivane KhetaguriDirector of Chiatura Manganese Ore Mine 

Mr. Ivane Khetaguri was appointed as director of Chiatura Manganese Ore Mine in July 2019. Between 1998 and 2019, prior to joining Georgian Manganese LLC, Khetaguri held leading technical, production and commercial positions at various large-scale companies in Georgia, such as Global Lighting Company Ltd, JSC RMG Gold, Customs Terminal Lilo-1 and Georgian Gas Transportation Company Ltd. Ivane Khetaguri played an important role as head of administration, military representative and advisor at the Georgian Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Defense, and State Property Management Agency.  

Mr. Khetaguri graduated from Georgian Technical University with a degree in chemical engineering in 1995.

 

 

Zaza Uplisashvili – Director of Vartsikhe 2005

Mr. Zaza Uplisashvili is Vartsikhe 2005’s general director, managing and overseeing all operational processes of four hydropower plants. Prior to joining the company in 2005, Mr. Uplishashvili served as governor of Georgia’s Marneuli region and as vice-governor of Mtskheta-Mtianeti region, which granted him unique knowledge of the local economic situation and broader community issues. In addition to his political experience, Mr. Uplishashvili has valuable managerial experience from his previous position at Lufthansa.

Mr. Uplishashvili earned his PhD in mechanical engineering from Georgian Technical University
